Get Outta My Head! | Jamie Gray November 03, 2016 at 03:27PM

When I was like 6 or 7, I went to my first baseball game…at Wrigley Field, Chicago…1960-something. Fergie Jenkins took the mound at the top of the 1st, and I saw all my heros take their places around the diamond…Banks on first, Beckett on 2nd, Kessinger at Short, Santo on 3rd. Billy Williams ran out to Center Field, as Randy Hundley squatted into place behind the plate to warm up the future Hall of Fame, All Star pitcher.

I know it was a day game…there were no lights at Wrigley yet, so they all were day games. But, I don’t remember much else about who won the game (or even who they played that day) to tell you the truth. I wasn’t there to see the Cubs win, I was just there to see them PLAY.

I listened to every game they played that summer, on a little red AM radio my Aunt Jinnie had given me as a get-well gift (I got hit by a car in kindergarten, and spent a couple days home sick due to the resulting concussion). I had baseball cards with all their players pictures, but most games weren’t on TV yet, and I imagined each game thru the eyes of The Voice on the radio…Harry Carey I think…as I listened to the play-by-play….every afternoon, all summer long. It was everything that I thought about. Baseball. The Cubs.

Then that day arrived, and I was finally there at The Show! Wrigley Field!!

I kept line score in the program, and I’m pretty sure my dad bought me a Cubs Pennant that day, which hung on my bedroom wall for years afterwards. I recall a foul ball coming toward me, so close I thought I almost could grab it…before hitting a nun right in her glasses. I still remember feeling bad that she would have to miss the rest of the game.

Now, I know there’s a lot of folks who have been waiting for a Cubs World Championship for a lot longer than I…more die hard fans than I ever was, I’m sure. And yes, I do tend to to be a bit of a NY Mets fan at times, it’s true. But I’ve seen the Mets win a couple times (and lose a few more), and it was great when they won…but not like this.

Because today, I feel like that little kid again! My Cubbies FINALLY pulled one off! A World Series Championship!! YES!!

Long gone from the diamond are the great Cubbies of my youth, but it doesn’t matter. Because now I see it…I’m not just a Cubs fan. No, because I probably wouldn’t be a baseball fan at all, had it not been for that summer, and those Cubs.

Today, I AM that kid again. And I feel just like I remember feeling, as I walked into Wrigley for the first time that day. That first game…I FINALLY got to go to The Show for the First Time.

Today, Baseball itself and The Chicago Cubs, are One. Just like they were at that day at Wrigley. Just like they should be.

Congratulations, and Thank You 2016 Chicago Cubs!

OK…I know you are all wondering, so here’s why I can’t vote for Hillary (I’m also not voting for Trump, so keep reading, my open-minded friend).

¶ The day Congress begins it’s new session in January, the special investigators will be appointed and the Congressional hearings will begin. The Nation will be plunged into months of nothing but partisan rantings, hearings and tirades, until finally, months or years later, Hillary is either impeached or acquitted and the furor finally dies down…you know, like it did with repealing Obamacare (read: it didn’t).

¶ But let’s just say she DOESN’T get impeached. Enough people are bribed or killed or however she manages to stay in office. OK…well, after that, at best, there would be 3+ years where NOTHING happens, because the GOP blocks EVERYTHING Hillary tries to do. The Grand Old Party (yes, that’s what GOP stands for) emboldened by the corruption charges to step up the gerrymandering and poll rigging, after the midterm elections will have a huge, Veto breaking Congressional majority, ensuring, at best that the next 2 years are more of the same.

¶ At worst, our nation goes thru a scandal that makes the Nixon resignation and Bill Clinton Impeachment Circus look like a sunny day in paradise. No second term for the Crooked Hillster, as her polling numbers dip lower than they are even now. 2021 rolls around, and we’re stuck with Ted Cruz as our President and the World effectively begins Final Approach to Armageddon.

¶ These are just some of the high points I’ve guessed at…I’m sure reality will be much worse, complete with new wars, greater corporate exploitation, and the “War on Terror” clinging desperately to illegal, McCarthyistic tactics to sustain itself.

¶ After all that, I’ll be able to say “I told you so” and, more importantly, “Don’t Fucking Blame Me” #JFS

¶ ps. I didn’t speculate here, but I’m certain the Trump outcome will be similar/worse. God Help The USA #TwoEvils #TooEvil #gomh

It seems to happen every day now: I end up getting all worked up over at least one insane news event. You know, something so absolutely idiotic that your brain starts SCREAMING at you about it, and eventually your mouth follows suit and the next thing you know, you’ve been ranting about Obama (or some other political douchebaggery) for the past forty-two minutes and no one but the dog is listening? (asleep, but listening for “Out” or “Treat”)
Every Fucking Day. Today multiple times. I rant in writing a lot. But, when I rant in writing, I only scratch the surface of what my inner ranting child has to say. Ask Meshelly…she’s heard almost as many rants as the dogs, and she’s damn near smacked that little ranting shit RIGHT upside his fool head when he wouldn’t stfu! #jfs #gomh

Android is sexist.
I was busy ranting about Apple a second ago, and I typed “Fanboys” and Android spell check had both the singular and plural form of the word. When I decided to include Fangirls, my spell check helpfully replaced it with Daniels. Really Google? Are there only Fanboys in Silicon Valley?
maybe 🙁 #jfs #gomh

So…11 days before the election, and FBI – Federal Bureau of Investigation Director James Comey decides to drop a bomb on the Clinton Campaign. Must be some serious shit in those emails, since he went out of his way to avoid compromising the HIllary campaign during the original investigation. Must be significant shit. #jfs #Election2016 #gomh
