Trump on North Korea: All options are on the table — except talking

So, #Trump just said, “I’m done talking!” regarding #NorthKorea …followed by “all other options are on the table”. As if any of the ‘other’ option has the possibility of a positive outcome where nobody dies and peace abounds.
Really think about what this means, folks. It’s really hard to walk back from the brink of war if you refuse to talk. Every other option ends in a strong Air Cavalry front and 90% chance of heavy storms of smart bombs raining down, with a moderate chance of small to medium mushroom clouds, and 100% chance of casualties on all fronts.
Talk is not cheap…Unless it comes from some Cheeto-In-Chief that’s mouth never stops running. This could get ugly fast.

How to end the scourge of gun violence? Open dialogue (Opinion)

Regulations won’t stop the violence. Gun violence has little to do with law, and much to do with mental well being. Discontentment, stress, and pressures of our polarized society, leave little room for individuals who don’t quite fit the norm, pushing them instead to the fringe of society, where things get very lonely and confused.
We are going out of out way to push the boundaries of mental wellness, embracing life on the edge of sanity, as our culture is assailed by continuous, rapid change in the well-connected modern world the we live. For many people, it’s simply too much, and when they reach their breaking point, anything can happen.
America’s gun problem has little to do with guns, and everything to do with people feeling hopeless, useless and deserted by our leaders and the rest of society, looking for answers and finding only pain. It’s a societal sickness that will not be healed by removing some of the guns. Other tools of destruction will be found…cars, knives, bombs…people get pretty creative when they have nothing to think about except how miserable they are.
It’s time to deal with the misery. It’s time to mend the hearts and minds of Americans, and force our Government to serve All the People, and not just the elite.
#GunViolence is just one form of violence. All violence comes from the same places…mostly desperation and angst…for normal people, sociopaths aside, thanks. To end ALL violence…that should be our goal…violence needs no weapon to be destructive.

Houston’s flooding shows what happens when you ignore science and let developers run rampant

Much of the flood damage from #HurricaneHarvey to #Houston is due to direct disregard for wetlands preservation. How does saving the beavers and pond critters save you from floods? Well, it probably doesn’t completely, but paving over the wetlands, which are awesome at absorbing flood waters in their natural state, creates a big, big problem when it comes to a major storm like this. Flood waters have nowhere to go…no place to absorb them…no buffer zone, except the Houston Underground and everybody’s basement.
So hey…let’s have less regulations, and allow people to keep building in river valleys and on lake shores. Let’s run pipelines through everywhere and pave over everything as fast as possible. Yeah, OK.
Look, it’s not just about oil spills and saving the owls…it’s about building smart, and with forethought and responsibility. It’s about loss of life and property, that could’ve been prevented with some educated planning, rather than unbridled urban sprawl.
And ps. It’s about #ClimateChange.
