it’s true!!! the EP is FINALLY done, and sent off to the disc cookers to bake at 420 for 5-10 days. so the hard copies won’t be available for a bit, but rumour has it that you’ll be able to pick up a copy on CDBaby THIS WEEKEND (yay!) and it should start hitting iTunes, Amazon, and all those other guys not too long after that.

i’m so excited i can hardly type…this is my first release and i’m really happy with how it came out. i know you guys are gonna love it, and i can’t wait for you to get your hands on a copy! it won’t be long now!

BUT—i’ve got an EXTRA SPECIAL SURPRISE for you guys. the EP has 4 songs ( i won’t spoil the secret on which ones for now) – but there is a secret double secret 5TH SONG that is NOT on it and…not only can you hear it, but for a limited time you can download it FOR FREE! You have to be signed up as a fan (which you most likely are if you are getting this email) but that’s it…no other catches.

Just follow this link, and as long as you have signed up as a fan, you should be able to download the MP3 file:

peace, jamie

hey now…

hey y’all…just a quick update.

things have been crazy around here, and i’ve barely been able to make it to my thursday night show each week…i haven’t missed it yet though! things are winding down a bit now, so hopefully i’ll be back more on the music track soon.

this fall i’m working on putting a road trip together…hopefully pull some gigs together and get to meet some of my cool friends from BlogTV. also working on a couple of new songs…i may try to play the newest song this week on the show…working title “lost in seattle”. any of you who joined me on the live broadcast from the car coming back from boston might have an idea what that’s about. lol.

…and hopefully this will be the LAST thursday without a new video release…i think i’ve missed three in a row now…what a damn slacker.

keep listening and tuning into BlogTV and i hope to see you down the road.

peace, jamie

playing for the living

Some of my neighbors have put together a community healing night on the beach. The same beach where the small boy lost his life to the waters of our lake last week. They’ve asked me to play guitar and sing some healing music. I’m both honored and horrified.

I’ve never considered myself or my own songs to be healing. No, I’m much more the dwell in my own misery type of songwriter. Ok, well…that’s not really true. But I do focus more on relationships, lost love, trouble with the law…you know, the stuff many good blues and C&W songs are born from. Maybe a couple political protest/commentary songs thrown in.

Healing will be a bit of a stretch.

So, here I am fretting (literally, with the guitar fretboard in my hands) over it. Not so much because of my own fears, but because I know there are others who are hurting. People who will be looking to me to help them pick themselves up and move on.

See, I won’t be playing songs about yesterday, but for today. I won’t be playing songs about second chances, and I won’t be playing for the dead. I’ll be playing for the living…for friends and neighbors with sadness in their hearts, who will be hoping that they can find peace…and that I can help them find peace.

Wow. That’s a lot of heavy air to make my strings vibrate through.

But…I know I can do it. Music can do it. I believe in the power of music, its ability to heal and bring forth life anew. And also the power of people…human energy. If I can tap into that energy, listen to the wind…for the song from their hearts.

If…

…then my guitar will play itself, and their energy will fill my voice.

And the healing might begin.
