#FloodInsurance. Don’t even get me started. Ooops, Too late…
OK…so basically, the US Government foots the bill to help people keep rebuilding in flood prone areas OVER and OVER. #WhatTheEverLovingFuck?! Instead of paying to rebuild in an area where YOU KNOW another flood will EVENTUALLY (or sooner) destroy their home or business again, how about giving them the money to relocate and rebuild somewhere ELSE…someplace maybe that is less likely to be destroyed again?
The irony is that this program, properly implemented, has the ability to move whole populations out of harm, and return the “buffer zones” to a natural state where they can provide PROTECTION for the areas where we place our homes. Had it been implemented properly from the start, we would have millions fewer people in harms way NOW!
Just another example of why we shouldn’t let the Federal Government manage ANYTHING important.
