Sounds like Obama is finally getting onboard with public opinion…15 minutes before he leaves office. Way to go, BO. I imagine he’ll wait until he leaves office to really come out in favor of legalization.
I’ve said before and will say again…Obama is one of the most useless Presidents we have ever had…and I voted for him and his platform of “hope” and transparency. Color me disappointed on both counts.

Following Bana on Twitter can be heartbreaking…but also a vivid reminder of how horrible war is, and how children and innocent lives are caught in the crossfire of religious ideology and nationalism. Some would have you believe Bana is a terrorist because of her nationality and religion. They would suggest that allowing children like Bana refugee status in the USA would endanger American lives. Maybe they should read her tweets. Maybe they need their hearts broken a little.
Because, I’d argue just the opposite…every refugee we deny entry is a potential terrorist. Those who are granted freedom and shelter from oppression will understand what America truly stands for, and would sooner come to Her defense than commit acts of hatred towards America and Americans.
Terrorism is as much about American hypocrisy as Islamic jihad. Jihadists see our lofty goals and our exploitative actions in contradiction of each other, and are fueled by that hypocrisy.
Because, I’d argue just the opposite…every refugee we deny entry is a potential terrorist. Those who are granted freedom and shelter from oppression will understand what America truly stands for, and would sooner come to Her defense than commit acts of hatred towards America and Americans.

It’s just another way that republicans (mostly) try to make poverty out to be the fault of the poor. Of COURSE you waste food stamps on junk food. You are obviously cannot be expected to make good decisions…that’s why you’re poor. Because most of the poor are not white, it’s also convenient racial discrimination without having to mentioning race. The ‘poor’ are too lazy to keep a job. The ‘poor” are too stupid to make money.
How about designing welfare programs that help people get OUT of poverty, rather than condemning them to a life of inadequate welfare benefits that don’t pay the bills.
Because as soon as you start to earn any money, you start to lose benefits…Even the ‘stupid’ and ‘lazy’ poor can figure it out: Why bother working when every dollar you earn costs 75 cents in benefits lost?

Never compare yourself to others…on Facebook or elsewhere. You know people don’t tell the whole truth, or let you see the whole picture of their lives…just the good parts. The grass is always greener they say…that’s because they never mention the weeds and rodent damage. Keeping up with the Joneses, whether on Facebook or IRL is a recipe for unhappiness. Instead, be generous and compassionate to all, and grateful what you have, rather than envious of other people’s lives…as they APPEAR to be on Facebook.
