Researchers say you might as well be your own therapist

You are your own best shrink. Unless you’re REALLY crazy.
But seriously. Most therapy is just about helping you figure out what corrections you need to make to your perspective that minimize pain and maximize well being. Because for some reason you can’t see what is causing the pain. Hint: Usually it’s because you don’t want to see.
Therapy is about change. We don’t handle change very well. Some of us will always need help, but most of us would do well to take the whole therapy thing ‘in house’ and stop letting outside forces manipulate our psyches.

Where Confederate monuments end up

Relics and monuments of the #Confederacy belong in museums, not in front of courthouses and city hall, but nevertheless a persistent reminder to future generations of the costs of injustice. Well some of them. Some I’ve seen are ugly as fuck and should just be destroyed for sure.
We should never forget the past, but must move forward with lessons learned…and that sometimes means purging old memories from view, the message received, our evolution already part of our history, a permanent, cautionary record of our more primitive roots.
