30 Years Ago: Bruce Hornsby Plays His First Grateful Dead Show

Seems like yesterday. I think Hornsby brought musical elements back to the Dead that hadn’t really been around since Keith died…and then drove them higher. He was no Pig Pen, but the first time he sat in with the band, he seemed like he belonged there, riding along on the bus to never-everland.#GratefulDeadhttps://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fultimateclassicrock.com%2Fbruce-hornsby-grateful-dead-first-concert%2F&h=AT25t1VZt1LKejW3kLP2GQPPEEBQSIB9CSIq4R-tR5MbiM3bG7RYAn6pA1icXxZA9TZXhAgT2Mz7F6_Hgp3w2VO-Y6HOi5aJaUPUUsDWVVPFdadq8H86zjvm-vR0HQ&s=1

JJ Grey & Mofro Perform ‘Brighter Days’ At Waterfront Blues Festival In 2016: Pro-Shot Video

One of the best free concerts I ever saw…and after the show, J.J. popped out of the bus when we knocked on the door, and posed for pics with the kids ?. Good times…definitely ‘Brighter Days’ than this pandemic hell we now find ourselves in, with alligators up to our asses.JJ Grey & Mofro Perform ‘Brighter Days’ At Waterfront Blues Festival In 2016: Pro-Shot Video https://bit.ly/35C9KKfhttps://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.jambase.com%2Farticle%2Fjj-grey-mofro-brighter-days-waterfront-blues-festival-2016-video&h=AT01U3q8FRgLy3-92XJu5av8X4B_35LGJTBC-1dWFNPYQzdRDmgBDyQ6vZeyd2JiJW07kJj2YPsQfFFYfxjbdYFtpwmWhb2kNtusDDGRStFMZ0m0opj4o-SVfr8Wrg&s=1

Hanging Tree Guitars: The Wood’s ‘Not Good, Not Bad, Not Ugly – Just Strange’

Why Dee Snider Had ‘Trepidation’ in Twisted Sister’s Early Days

Twisted Sister was one of the first 18+ shows I ever saw. It was 1978 or 79 I guess, so I was 16 or 17 at the time, back when IDs were paper and had no photos. Twisted Sister had played Glen Island Casino in New Rochelle, NY before, and been banned from playing there. But…for some reason, the club rescinded the ban and let them play the show. Zebra opened for them I think…though that might’ve been a different show I got really wasted at. Who knows?
Anyway, long story short…I got really wasted and Twisted Sister rocked the bar…and got banned again, (this time I think forever) and then went on to become a household name instead of a NY Area metal band that got kicked out of almost everyplace they played.
Fuck the critics and censors. Live your own music.https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fultimateclassicrock.com%2Fdee-snider-interview-2020%2F&h=AT2KRdvf5g_zZUXpwIvdt2DWlE0N_M6d88jxKhIgQtrbidbcSkWn_eDoycK00iY9JmUfVtD0BADuS2NBBJoMxPYPXD-UXSd9uGXRqZ3L0n6_leT175R780AOOy4qLw&s=1
