new song: “Goodbye”

just released for purchase and download/streaming (downloads are free, paying for it is optional as always).

this song brand new…i just wrote this over the weekend…well, not entirely true. i wrote the chorus in the shower a few weeks ago, but i just got around to putting it together into a song. and in an unusual burst of productivity i actually recorded it and was happy with the way it came out.

here’s the lyrics. enjoy!

jamie

I had a dream once of you and of me
One day I woke up and then I could see
That something was not how it seemed
Nothing turns out how you dream

Everything happens they say for a reason
And to everything there’s a time and a season
But some things you can’t understand
(Like why) nothing turns out how you plan

I guess I got over that look in your eye
And I’m probably over the tears I been cryin’
Some men might die just to be by your side
As for me all I can tell you is goodbye
(all I can tell you is goodbye)

Once in a while you may get shown some light
Mixed with the wrongs you may get some things right
But some how it all won’t make sense
Until nothing comes to break you again.

groundhogs and gray skies

6 more weeks of winter, a new date added with Will King on 2/20, more and better music available for download and MORE!

Wow. There’s sure a lot going on this Groundhog Day…where do I start?

Well ok, woodchucks first (yes, a groundhog is actually the same thing as a woodchuck, not a gopher as i mistakenly thought before checking Wikipedia). So Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow, so winter is gonna be sticking around for awhile more…6 weeks if you buy into the legend.

Well, I hate to be the one to remind phurry old phil that spring doesn’t actually start until the vernal equinox…which is more like 7 weeks away on march 20th. But, I guess what phil is really trying to tell us is “don’t break out the shorts and sunscreen quite yet”. Grrr. Thanks Phil.

Speaking of spring (and wishing it was), it looks like a lot of things are coming together. I don’t want to say too much right yet for fear of jinxing anything, but there may be some really cool things in the works. Subscribe here, join the mailing list, follow me on Twitter or Facebook…do something so you don’t miss any news!

On that note, Will King and I had such a good time playing together last month at The Bitter End in NYC, that we’re doing it again. Just confirmed today: We’ll be appearing at the ever so intimate Coffee Labs Roasters in Tarrytown, NY on Saturday Feb. 20th at 8pm. More details to follow, but mark your calendars and come out and have a bit of java and jam out with us!

I just upgraded my account on ReverbNation.com to allow larger files to be uploaded, so I refreshed all of my old MP3s with higher quality (320 kbps) versions which sound much nicer. If you already downloaded them, go back and get the updated versions…your ears will thank you. You can still download “Everything is Nowhere”, “Every Time You Fall” and “Right as Rain” for FREE, and “Olivia” is available for FREE if you sign up as a “fan”.

I also added a new recording of “Like A Wheel” which marks the first recording with me on bass guitar…as well as acoustic and electric guitars, djembe, and vocals. I also did all the editing and mixing…a total DIY project…and while I am not claiming to be really good at alot of these new tasks, it came out sounding good enough that I thought I should share it. You can stream it for FREE from the streaming player, or you can buy the downloadable MP3 for just 80¢. If you buy it, 100% of the profit (50¢) will go to help out people in need in Haiti.

My good friend Angela just overhauled my MySpace page as well…she did such a nice job I can’t stop talking about it. Be sure to check it out and add me as a friend if you haven’t already. Thanks Angie!

Of course, join me every Thursday night at 10PM EST for “Acoustic Brew”, my Live Show on BlogTV.com…and be on the lookout for some special surprise shows on other days as well.

Hope I see everybody soon!

peace,

jamie

Everything is Nowhere

Hey blog readers…

I just wrote a new song, and guess what? It is available to stream or download right here on the music page!

Feel free to download it and share it with everyone you want!

I hope you enjoy!

peace, jamie

Oh yeah…Here’s the lyrics…

Everything is Nowhere

Music in my head but I can’t hear it
Dreaming I awake but nothing’s clear
I only see what I want to see
I can only be what I want to be
Climb the nearest mountain just to get myself high
Disbelieve the truth just to hold on to the lie

I am not dreaming
I am awakening
I am not even trying
I am not where I find
the pieces I have left behind
the colors painted in my mind
Everything is nowhere all the time

Everything you told me now it haunts me
Seasons look behind them and they taunt me
I only dream what I want to dream
Sometimes it just makes me scream
Run into the darkness now full speed ahead
Running from the demons with my eyes all red

Didgerod and the church of no religion…

As I’m writing this, Didgeod is finishing up his weekly show on BlogTV.com, playing some of the most beautiful music…which vibrates the very essence of my being every time I watch and listen…which is every Monday night.

Watching Didgerod “Thunder Hawk” is really very much like going to church…except there are no false idols or a bunch of rules to follow.  Instead there are just universal vibrations from ancient instruments (that’s what the banner on Rod’s show page says…and it is very truthful).

Each week as I listen and watch (more listen than watch really, my eyes are often closed) I can’t help but reflect on all of the ways I can be a better human and bring more light into the world. Isn’t that what church is supposed to be all about?

So that’s when it struck me…
the church of no religion
follow your heart and the universal vibrations

I typed it into Skype and Julia replied:  “that’s all the religion I need”.

Me too. Thanks Didgerod Thunderhawk.

Didgerod’s Show is Every Monday night at 8PM MST (10pm EST)

“Lost in Seattle”

Hey guys…here’s the lyrics to my latest song which I’ll be playing for the first time on tonight’s show on BlogTV. ( http://blogtv.com/people/jamiegray )

Enjoy and I hope I see y’all there!

Lost in Seattle

It could’ve been anywhere, back in 1995
Was one of the last shows when Capt. Trips was still alive
I was walking around all day down on Shakedown Street
Nothin’ but rainbows and smiles from everyone I’d meet

She was so beautiful, just like that summer day
She quenched my thirst, and gave me a hug as I walked away
‘Bout an hour or so later, I was feelin’ mighty fine
As the sun went down all the colours and rainbows started dancin’ through my mind

Later on in the evening, the drums beating ever loud
Fires burning everywhere, and I got so lost in the crowd
Lost everything and everyone that I knew that afternoon
Found myself lyin’ under a tree howlin’ up at the moon

Next thing I remember I was falling thru a hole in time
Had to get back to the way it was…I went looking for a sign
Maybe flying in a yellow taxicab the Needle dancing in the wind
With the gentle chime of a silver bell and I was back on the ground again

…Chorus…..
And in the darkness, following a broken rainbow
And in the night time I was stumbling through the streets
All the answers…so close that I can almost reach them
Lost in the Seattle night
