It’s just another way that republicans (mostly) try to make poverty out to be the fault of the poor. Of COURSE you waste food stamps on junk food. You are obviously cannot be expected to make good decisions…that’s why you’re poor. Because most of the poor are not white, it’s also convenient racial discrimination without having to mentioning race. The ‘poor’ are too lazy to keep a job. The ‘poor” are too stupid to make money.
\nHow about designing welfare programs that help people get OUT of poverty, rather than condemning them to a life of inadequate welfare benefits that don’t pay the bills.
\nBecause as soon as you start to earn any money, you start to lose benefits…Even the ‘stupid’ and ‘lazy’ poor can figure it out: Why bother working when every dollar you earn costs 75 cents in benefits lost?<\/p>\n
